I believe that government should have a limited role in people’s lives and that competition in the marketplace is the most effective means of producing social and economic progress. Consequently, I want low taxes, limited but effective government, local budget authority for K-12 schools and believe in the power of the free enterprise system.

We must prioritize spending. I believe tax payer’s money belongs to tax payers and they are owed open accountability and oversight for all tax revenue collected and spent on their behalf.

• Pass Zero Base Budgeting Bill

• Mandate that all Agencies that receive state funding must publish and itemize spending as a standard practice

• Increase fines and penalties for graft and corruption-include mandatory restitution as part of the process

As a mother of four kids in the Public School system, it is imperative to gain local control of our schools and I will fight for it. The Charter Cluster Model needs to be researched, developed and implemented.

Further, I think parents will make the best decisions for their children’s educational growth not the government, and they should be given the power and resources to choose the school that is best suited for educating their child.

• Smaller class sizes

• Encourage Cluster Models and remove Judicial blocks as they appear

• Vouchers (increased competition)

• Pass Educational Improvement Districts (EID) for voter referendum

• Allow other Government entities to assist in funding of local schools through Impact Fees

Like every parent with children in the public school system, I strongly believe in smaller class sizes, paying our teachers better salaries and providing them with paid planning time. I believe the most important economic development tool that state government can provide is an educated workforce. I think that quality education starts with respect and support for our teachers and a commitment to providing them with the resources and environment they need to be successful.

I believe that when a County or School system gets past a certain population it no longer represents its inhabitants. I believe that a county should split at this point and that the population deserves strict accountability of its resources.

• Remove artificial cap of 159 counties in GA

• Propose a bill to split Counties and School Districts upon reaching a specific population, when they are no longer representative of their communities needs

• Accountability and Oversight

Transportation is another huge issue for anyone who lives in the Metro Atlanta area. Dunwoody unfortunately is used as a cut through when the traffic is bad.

• Build a Northern arc and a Southern By-pass

• Time the lights

• Support Ashford Dunwoody entrance ramp to 285

• Support Hammond/400 entrance ramp

• Build Northern airport (Gwinnett or up 75N)

Explore alternate forms of Clean energy and Water that do not negatively impact the environment.

• Build Nuclear Plants

• Explore and develop natural Underground aquifers

• Build another reservoir near Metro area

But more than anything I believe my job is to represent the actual voice and needs of the people who live in Dunwoody.
