Officially it was a tie.
Wynterhall swam against Dunwoody North and the stakes were high. On one team Councilman John Heneghan's kids. On the other Mayor Wright's kids, Representative Fran Millar's Grandkids and City Attorney Brian Anderson's kids. But no pressure.
The kids swam great and all had a blast until the Thunder and Lightning commenced. As someone said, "It must be Tuesday". After an hour delay it was decided that it would be a tie for both teams.
It was a great opportunity to ask Representative Millar about some recent Legislation that passed and gain more valuable insight into the whole process.
I also had the opportunity to ask Susan Mitchell on clarification about the Cluster Charter Model Senator Weber got passed in the last Legislative Session. But mostly, it was just great to see the kids swim!

1st Meet and Greet went well
Met with some key people to discuss strategy and issues this morning.
Worked on my Blog and Website content.
Went to a wonderful Meet and Greet hosted by the Gillis family. The wine and food was great.
And the conversation was interesting. As always I am impressed with what an intelligent and thoughtful community we live in.
I think it went well for my first candidate speaking engagement! I introduced my platform and got great feedback. Very good questions and dialog.
Apparently a bunch of my signs in Mill Glen have disappeared. I need to replace them and place a few more.
Thanks to Bobbe and Peter for hosting and the folks who sacrificed a Saturday evening to listen to me speak!

Making lists and writing platform
Well, it's been a really busy day. The Branches hosted Dive-o-rama for local divers. My sons particpated along with divers from Smokerise, Wynterhall, The Branches and Mill Glen. It was wonderful to see so many great dives!
The rest of the day was spent working on my site and an upcoming speech I need to prepare for The Ashford Alliance Meeting introducing the candidates on June 24th.
Bobbe and Peter Gillis are hosting a get together for me to meet some of their friends tomorrow night! It should be interesting and knowing the Gillis family, a lot of fun!

Wynterhall versus Refield make up
What a blast! The kids had so much fun at the make-up swim meet. It was so cool to see both teams mixing it up in and out of the pool. The entire grass area was covered with both teams playing football, soccer and literally hanging together on the jungle gym.
Although we would have preferred to win, a great time was had by all. And it was great hanging out with all of our friends.
It is also really cool that Redfield is hosting a swim-a-thon charity event tomorrow at their club. They were cool enough to invite WSTC to participate. Unfortunately, many of our swimmers are also divers and are already committed to the Branches dive-o-rama tomorrow.
It was really nice how many offered to host more of my signs. I really appreciate it!

I met Senator Eric Johnson last night
Last night was an interesting evening at the Ravinia Club.
A large crowd turned out to meet State Senator Eric Johnson, possibly the next Govenor of Georgia.
City Councilman Danny Ross, Senator Dan Weber, Representative Fran Millar, Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambas and Dunwoody Mayor Ken Wright all spoke about Senator Eric Johnson's instrumental role in both Dunwoody and Sandy Springs achieving Citihood.
Luckily, Senator Johnson's vision for self determination doesn't end with cities. Schools are another area where he feels the community and parents should be pivotal in determining the educational needs of their children. Senator Eric Johnson as the Senate President Pro Tempore was a huge proponent of Senator Weber's legislation on the formation of Charter Clusters, and created Georgia's Special Needs Scholarships, the States first voucher program for education.
Afterwards, we hurried back to Wynterhall Swim and Tennis Club to see the end of our Dual Dive meet with Mill Glen and Smokerise. The kids dove great and WSTC won both meets.

Wynterhall vs Redfield
The weather held off until we had the first five races lined up. Then as if on cue, thunder and lightning rolled in to prevent the swimmers from starting their first races.
The Redfield moms, ever industrious, still managed to sell most of their munchies in the hour long wait to see when and if the meet would commence. Great job ladies!
It was great for the kids to hang with all their school friends and the parents to catch up on the latest happenings. Everyone loves when we swim against other local neighborhoods!
Got a lot of positive feedback on my decision to run for office and requests for my lovely red signs to decorate peoples yards. I really appreciate all of your support and will get the signs out ASAP!
It appears The Branches was enjoying the same weather we were, since most of their swim team showed up right before us at Chili's to get out of the rain. Or maybe they were celebrating it!
Whatever motivated them, it was good to see and meet so many great people in one day.
